The Silent Threat Facing Young Athletes

Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD) is a life-threatening event where the heart unexpectedly stops beating, often without any warning signs.

In young athletes, it is usually caused by undiagnosed structural or electrical heart conditions — conditions that regular sports physicals often miss.

Signs and Risk Factors to Watch For

Fainting or seizures during or after exercise, or from emotional stress.

Chest pain, discomfort, or a racing heartbeat.

Unexplained fainting or seizures at any time.

Shortness of breath or unusual fatigue with activity.

Dizziness or lightheadedness during or after physical exertion.

Family history of heart disease, sudden unexplained death, or death during exercise or seizures (under age 50).

Early Detection Saves Lives.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is the leading medical cause of death in young athletes — and most heart conditions show no symptoms.

Through quick, painless heart screenings, we can detect warning signs early and give families the chance to seek life-saving treatment.

Our cardiac screenings include:

  • A simple health questionnaire
  • An electrocardiogram (ECG) screening
  • Referral for further evaluation if needed

It’s fast, it’s safe, and it could save a life.
